• 12 ounces whole wheat pasta (penne for picture)
  • 8 ounces kielbasa, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 purple onion, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 green pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 yellow pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons fresh oregano leaves, chopped
  • 4 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup fresh basil
  • ¼ Parmesan cheese


  1. Place pasta, kielbasa, veggies, spices and chicken broth in a large pot.
  2. Pour oil on top to avoid bubbling over.
  3. Cover and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat, then cook for 10 minutes. stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir then serve, topped with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.
